were so excited to be the guys that get to deliver you this guys debut release. luca murgia has a sound all his own he really like tom toms, he likes spacey flourishes, and overall he likes to deliver tracks with mobile electroy grooves married to the stability of house. the thing that really makes him special to us is the naturalness of feeling he achieves in his productions he has a neatness to his grooves everything lines up so the body can move freely and the dancer be in a state of flow. all four tracks on this ep have real singularity of intent in their sounds and rhythms but vary dramatically in intensity.

invisible inc s third release departs in yet another direction as they dig through the archives of 80s new wave/psych funksters the poncho brothers. apparently these three previously unreleased killer beats were recorded between 1987 and 1990 and then forgotten about, only for a cassette to find its way into label boss gk machine s hands during some drunken tequila-fueled nights on holiday in mexico in 2012. fully remastered from the original tapes these no wave, disco funk dubs are firmly rocketed into the 21st century with ny s zoovox duo s stripped down stellar remix of amantes latinos. getting plays from daniele cosmic baldelli, jan schulte, dj kaos, kirsty p. + more.

the second release on modern cathedrals includes an original mix by altstadt echo supplemented with remixes crafted by donor, luigi tozzi, and asop. the inclusion of donor’s remix represents a continued effort to link together the detroit and brooklyn scenes, while the luigi tozzi remix connects modern cathedrals to the ghastly, dark styles of techno that italian artists have become so respected for. as a core member of the modern cathedrals team and a primary force behind the label’s event series, asop’s remix is the very first public release of work by this incredible new detroit-based artist. but while the artist names change from record to record, the philosophy does not. we continue in a desperate attempt to generate meaning during the short spasm of a lifetime we are given in a world that seems to conspire to prevent this effort’s realization. this situation might be inescapable, but through the rejection of complacency and dogma, we can approach our end with the bitter comfort that we were at least willing to be honest about our situation.

deep dark industrial ambient. a slowly evolving soundscape with boiling buzzing sounds, resonating through the dark world.the berserk was perhaps one of the world s best fighters, which in old norse time sworn allegiance to the norse god odin. before a battle berserkers excited each other up and occurred in bearskin or wolf skin, hence the word berserk. in the beginning of the battle they performed exceptionally talented, indifferent battlers, but in close combat they fell into berserk. then they howled like wild beasts, probably to frighten the enemy and incite their comrades and themselves, and then get into rages. a berserk in battle were said not to bother about any injuries, and was therefore until the enemy, or they died.

we were very excited indeed to see the third release from the quite promising love notes from brooklyn imprint! marco zenin was a featured artist on the last release under his dj octopus guise, and this time he s featured again with his other project, the more techy/ more minimal die roh, who recently had an underground athem with their release on black venison. the duo here seemingly lean their sounds in the direction of the label s and offer two-cut ep which is their deepest effort yet to date. surely more djs will play the dancier a side, behind 6000, but for us, the groovier b side and title track genghis kahn is the choice cut. label owner, nathaniel jay, continues in the precendent he s set with each release having its own unique love note,authored by him, making every one of these records collectable.

motormännen make information techno infused with an air of swedish nostalgia through a filter of retro-futuristic skepticism. the music is packed with minimal acid loops and samples with excerpts from swedish politicians, documentaries and christer glenning, reflecting on times when the cold war and the traditional welfare state were dissolving. inhibitions were relaxed and new, foreign influences crept into the body of society and the old information monopolies. motormännens tracks are visually enhanced by messages from pictures and videos from the 1970s and 80s. motormännen released their debut album *informationstechno* on cassette in 2014, which was nominated for best swedish dance album of the year at manifestgalan 2015. during 2015 the band received attention from swedish radio p2 and p3 and performed a series of gigs at home in stockholm.

delusion men were here before time started to flow and it seems they will stretch out their existence way beyond doomsday which probably explains their archaic impulses reverberating in a foggy, lost future. what they deliver are pieces of straightforward punk plunged into disco depths, kraut derailment and swirling drum machine melancholia. if you are looking for retro-future dystopias with no space for healthy minded horizons, this is the thing for you. delusion men walked together since the inception of future nuggets, although for them the time will never come, we snatched their debut ep. it feels as if through them the old ones are channeling the last messages of hopelessness for dance floors and dining rooms.

first, let me pay homage to institubes and the codeine generation who discovered red bull in 2003. para one, teki and tacteel were on the front line just like us making the french scene stronger and even more exciting after the first french touch wave. in 2004 for the fourth release on ed banger we were looking for french artists who were killing it, pushing boudaries, those we wish we had signed. three names: para one, feadz jackson. both feadz and para one accepted to remix krazy baldhead’s first ep, this record is very special to me, we pressed 2000 copies.

somewhere in between de la soul, max graef and terrence parker lives georgi barrel. this mini album is a musical paradigm representing our definition of 2015 club music. infos about artist & record georgi barrel is a highly creative genius producer from kassel, germany. in 2014 we first time took notice of him – and were instantly excited. his highly distinctive, very relaxed and boogie-influenced style is pure joy. from wonky de-la-soul-grooves up to smashing ugly-drums like disco edits: on this album georgi is traveling through the undiscovered no mans land between house, hiphop and disco – the result is a masterpiece that definitely holds a candle to glenn astros throwback or max graef’s rivers of the red planet.

with releases and on sci+tec, tronic, trapez, rawthentic etc. frenchman matt sassari already walks on a great path with his style. so amir and butch were even prouder to get the chance to release a second ep with four more bombs from the man from marseille. stripped down techno at its best.

the return of the highly influential and classic tracks by thomas p. heckmann s infamous drax project, that brought you such huge anthems like amphetamine, phosphene, section 2 and parnophelia, which are collected on this one 2-coloured vinyl 12inch for the first time ! the two predecessors to amphetamine were section 2 on the first ever techno 7inch in 1993, followed some time later by the carl cox beloved anthem phosphene on the night glowing 10- drax three. this finally led to one of the most influential and famous techno tracks named amphetamine, which is presented here in a completely different and unreleased version (for the original please check afultd.31).

mosco fell asleep in tel aviv and awoke days later in berlin. this is his first offering for the esp institute. on side a, akachi plows straight in with its relentless rolling bassline, a thick blanket enveloping any and all breathing room. an array of squelches and atonal pads struggle to rise above the trudging rhythm, while live percussion slides in and out of frenzy. on the flipside, nobody else shows us moscos more ethereal side. beautifully programmed drums draw us in as the accentuated hi-hats and claves elegantly pierce rhythmic synth work, until finally were carried away by mystic keys layering in heavenly glissandos. these two songs will make you thirst for potent potions.

last summer, ultra knites records kicked off a series of knite grooves eps. ukr006 sees label owners sem marini and mike sharon make a reappearance for summer 2015, this time under their ultra knites pseudonym for the third instalment of the knite grooves series. as has come to be expected from the pair- two tracks on the a side which ooze class and deepness, laced with melodic keyboard solos, elements that were once a staple in the deep house genre but have since bceome scarce during recent years. flipping over to the b side, the pair welcome fresh talent from across the water in the form of a collaboration between us producer trevor vichas and netherlands based tommy largo. theres two mixes here of gonna hold on both of which capture the essence of real underground house music and maintain the ethos of ultra knites records.

as well as being a resident at moscow s denis simachev bar, leonid lipelis has been slowly making a name for himself as a producer for some time. there s a whole raft of lipelis remixes for the nu-disco set dating back to 2006, but it feels like the russian producer has stepped up his game of late. inbetween some killer edits for lies and an upcoming public possession 12- as tmo, lipelis dons his beard in dust guise for the latest release from the mysterious bahnsteig 23 label. if you were a fan of that aforementioned lies release or any previous bah 12 its highly likely you will dig the four cuts here with lipelis drawing for some obscure sources with eminently danceable results.

i first heard of julixo when i put my hands on his fantastic ep called silas released on rauh 005. after that, i kept a close eye on the sounds he was posting, and when i heard rebho, i knew we were going to do something together. the warm synth line, together with the jackin drum patterns, were perfect. then came reflections, which fitted superbly with rebho. although slower, and maybe more introspective, you still have that warm feeling going through the track. we decided to go with life of crime on the other side of the record. much more aggressive in its construction, that track deserved a side on its own: modern techno at its best. i hope you will enjoy this nice versatile release as much as i do! best regards, philippe petit

this 12inch is pure trance. who is/are rita furstenhof? we have no idea who she/he/they are. the a1 track, the mighty -hadron collider- was sent to optimo music hq about 18 months ago. normally sending one track is not much use to a label, but this was so good that we instantly replied to say we wanted to release it. rita furstenhof works in mysterious ways, and it was 18 months until the other tracks for the ep arrived. along the way there were a few times when we thought they had completely vanished, and we were never going to have a complete ep, but finally, here it is.

another bunch of successful edits on the unstoppable tvpc label. it s fourth sampler (and already a seventh record in label history) covers a wide array of exceptional gems, spanning from balearic pop, through electro disco, to slavic soul and disco funk. all tracks come from the late 70s and early 80s poland and were carefully reworked by some of the finest young producers from the country, keen to pay homage to their musical roots.

the first vinyl release on abandoned audio, the new sub-label from 31337 records, ezekiel honig‘s ‘a film of string & wood‘ continues his form of refracted, geographically oriented, electroacoustics. sitting in a background of field recordings and incidental real-world objects, textured piano and horns act as cement for chunky, yet subdued rhythms that fall over themselves and snap back into place. warm, looming tonal progressions remain incredibly intimate and focused while retaining an expansiveness of space, a perfect metaphor for honig’s music on the whole – personal and specific while intersecting with something more universal. throughout its five tracks, ‘a film of string & wood‘ stretches and pulls its melodies, weaving them through each blocky snare, each bassy kick drum phrase, with a heart and mind that hearkens to a different time, memory-tinged with a nostalgia for a moment that is yet to pass. pressed on sturdy 180 gram vinyl and featuring artwork/design by ezekiel honig.

general ludd is rich mcmaster from new jersey and tom marshallsay from canterbury. the guys met at the glasgow art school, where rich studied environmental art and tom studied fine art. their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions. this is their second ep for us – a more left field turn than their first, but, we can assure you, both tracks will break discerning dancefloors wide open.

jimi tenor has made an instrumental album mysterium magnum with the finnish national jazz orchestra, umo. umo is a professional 16 piece orchestra. specialized in jazz and contemporary rhythm music. throughout it s history umo has had a focus on finnish composers and has performed hundreds of compositions that were made especially for umo.

over the past years bézier has seen releases under the dark entries record imprint with the most recent telomeres ep this year. the title track &#30342,,,, or pronounced * mina* translates from japanese to * everyone*. mina is a journey through space with the initial ascent marked by a moody window of time in which uncertainty dominates the mindset of the passengers. once they break through the atmosphere and are proceeding as planned they land on the final destination, an interplanetary discotheque. mina was recorded this year with mark pistel on the helms for mixing and features sf drummer kevin woodruff of tussle fame providing live drumming for the last portion of the track. along with the title track the b-side includes tracks previously released on compilations but appear here for maximum record playing enjoyment. * serengeti drive* which appeared on honey soundsystems earlier hnytrx compilation of queer dancefloor artists is the slow burner of the group. * mysteries of the deep* which appeared in the jacktone cassette compilation of bay area electronic stars is the soundtrack to an underwater expedition. both tracks were recorded, produced and mixed by robert in his home sf studio in 2009.

for the second release on frits wentinks new bobby donny label, he hands over to san2, aka geert schilder. hailing from eindhoven in the south of the netherlands, schilder takes his production name from the building which houses his studio, on the second floor of the san building where the legendary radios and tape recorders were built by philips. with this in mind, it seems to follow suit that his music is mainly produced with analog techniques, incorporating equipment like the roland tr-606, sh-101, sbx-1 and akai mpc 2000xl

charolastras are a group of experimental electronic musicians with a keen interest in ancient rituals involving dance. in many cultures from the past, music and dance were closely tied with shamanism, spirituality and even combat. these traditions continue today in some parts of the world where music isnt solely for entertainment, as is often the case in our modern western society. the group s goal is to spread a message of peace and unity with their music. this intention is evident in the blissful ethereal textures used in their mellifluous productions. but their sound can also have a harder edge that evokes conflict, not calm. this is all by design because, as charolastras like to point out, sometimes you have to fight for peace .

in 1997 the vienna, austria based live act syncmode was founded and formed by bernd rausch & sascha sadat guscheh. their first 2 eps were self released between 2001–2003 and continue to play an important role in their reclusive production ethic. they continue collaborations with a close knit operation between 24seven and breakin stevens, which has directly triggered them to surpass the common duo and develop into a collective of changing members, which include the latest fixed members christof winkler and sonny blake. this ep is stripped down to a mix of live synthesis and heady synth-sync and machine drum trickery as it touches on past and future electronic music production techniques and solidifies these four tracks on a solid 12&#8243, vinyl. very rare and limited! due-out-in-summer-2015!

repress 2015 - those notorious victims of session return to what we like to think of as their spiritual home, if not their physical one, with the brilliant glow in the dark ep, and if you thought solomun and his neon nights were the only day-glow players in town its time to think again as the sv boys slap on the luminous paint and head straight to the dancefloor.

embezzlement society takes us back to the early days of 80s hip-hop with his ‘rough quarters ep. on his record the man from belfast heavily relies on funk-based drum loops as were popular in the glorious days of old school hip-hop. the results are two super casual tracks with a cool hip-house attitude just perfect for hip-house lover drei farben house who took the chance to contribute a remix in his slick and smooth style, merging the raw drums with some tender rhodes. tenderpark regular roman rauch finishes off the ep and slows down the tempo in his remix concentrating on the originals of the samples and displaying his mastery with the mpc once more. as always all tracks have been mastered and cut by helmut erler at dubplates & mastering.

you could not miss the 4/4 kickdrum during the 90s in the rhein-main-area around frankfurt/germany. therefore phonk ds first attempts on house and techno were pretty successful during this period. but his feet being too big for just one dancefloor he developed a taste for funk, disco and hiphop, too. so all these influences kept on working together and - as a result - in 2014 he founded his own label footjob. three records have been released so far, all of them collaborations with friends, and now no.4 is ready to take off - being phonk ds first solo project: expect some heavy phonk to get your foot-job done!

borrowed music return to wax see s a release that very nearly didn t see the light of day. between the years of 1995-99, toka project were writing tracks at diy s studio and releasing ep s with their label, s4g. these tracks were stored on dat tape (remember) and left for release at a later date. when the toka boys moved into their own place the dats were misplaced and presumed lost for good. unknown to anyone at the time, the tracks had simply been placed on a hard drive and forgotten about, until now. so, borrowed is very proud to present a slice of unreleased 90s house just the way we like it

the second release we do with french artists upwellings aka vincent raude who is professor of modern art at the academy of brest and has been recording music since 1996. his ep comprised two tracks. a-side >dubbin at the strobe< feat. michael zerang shows a nice interaction of drums and sounds developing a profound deep mood. drum parts were recorded in chicago by michael zerang, a real jazz legend who played a lot with peter brötzmann and joe mcphee, hamid drake. the flip side >lighthouse dub< has the aura of an place which is extremely isolated. the sound is at times extremely pulled back and melancholic and holds a sentiment that reminds us a bit of joy divisions >we are the young men<. the track undergoes a transformation beatwise when going more uptempo.

white asega co-­owner jack dixon wrote new curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. the original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. when jack moved to new york the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. this was the version we all liked best, although jack never wants to hear it again in his life. it sounds tough and tropical. our friend troy gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out. after telling jack to stop making boring music, mark kodiak spent two horrendous years working with jamie kodiak on a song they ve called taargus. it nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. it has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant “yo” that has been described as “annoying and unnecessary”. the artist tom pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. french born bass genius bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic early­morning house stepper. it took us approximately 2000 exhausting facebook group chats, four cross­atlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. we hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives. rip ken tulley.

around 1980 menko konings (em.) started the dutch underground formation s.m. nurse, first together with jos jak and later also with anneke stempher. s.m. nurse experimented with collage-like music and were inspired by n.y.-ultra, disco e.g. the band mainly performed in the amsterdam ultra-circuit (oktopus, paradiso), clubs and discotheques. they were played regularly on the famous radio programmes radionome and spleen and performed live on radio in the villa of the vpro in hilversum. they also contributed to the theme cassette turkish delight of the label ding dong and there was a cassette release on the label top tape. at the end of 1983, s.m. nurse split up.<vr />limited edition of 500 copies.

in this most recent phase, the intercontinental duo progress into new territory on four tracks that dwell in minimalism. atmospheric white noise and resonant synthesizer sequences combine together with spatial awareness and repetitions that build structures progressively. primal, slow and pulsing sounds give way to dynamic peaks. these tracks were recorded in the same session as the recent “el temps no passa” release on the philadelphia imprint white denim making it a perfect follow-up.

out on vinyl for the very first time, these original recordings were produced by the band on a 4-track cassette deck in 86-87, except track a2, recorded on a 8-track tape recorder at 8pm studio in lyon (march 87).

the virgo ep is the 4th of mutewax’s non-stop output, featuring french artist cømpass. vindemiatrix is a classy, uplifting peak-time track that sneaks up behind you. if you were thinking of leaving the dance floor. think again. spica lays heavy on the kick-drum & thick bass-lines. it’s a mind-winding trip which reveals a mature twist on the classic acid tweets. arcturus bounces joyfully across the dance-floor and picks up the pace with its hard-hitting acid notes and infectious rhythms. porrima beautifully stirs the emotions - the melodic rhythms predict a sweet future, yet it retains an atmospheric nostalgia for all things which must pass.

as earlier compilations of danza meccanica have taught us, italy gave birth to a disproportionate number of synth-pop, new wave and electronic acts in the 80s. mannequin goes deeper into the italian new wave archelogical research with a killer 10 tracks selection of carmody. picking their name from a science fiction novel titled dimension of miracles by robert sheckley, carmody were coming from torino, as their pairs monuments and chromagain. started as a duo (alberto ramella and andrea lesmo) and later a trio with max casacci joining in as a guitar player, carmody recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. sleep on mirrors compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you one of the most peculiar 80s minimal synth music coming out of italy
